Extension and Consultancy

Consultancy and extension services are offered to institutions engaged in the development and promotion of SMEs. Similarly, the PDCenter undertakes projects in foreign countries where financing, credit and development work are major components or activities.

The PDCenter is also open to conducting firm-level consulting in the area of integrated business survey/analysis and strategy formulation upon request.

Resource Persons

For all its training and consultancy projects, the PDCenter focuses on a network of resource persons or experts who have extensive practical experience in SME development and in the fields of credit and financing, entrepreneurship development and enterprise management in such areas as marketing, production, organization and finance.

1. Risk Management Advisory for the Restructuring Program of Agrani Bank in Bangladesh under the World Bank Financial Sector Adjustment Program as implemented by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Hong Kong. (Phase 3 of a 3-year Project)

2. BRAC Bank Middle Market Project for BRAC Bank (Bangladesh) and ShoreCap Exchange International. February-March 2006.

3. Savings Mobilization Project for Cambodia Entrepreneurs Building, Ltd and ShoreCap Exchange International. January – March 2006.

9. Case Studies on Six (6) Leading MFIs & Small Business Banks in South and Southeast Asia and Design and Delivery of a Small Business (SB) Lending Training Program to Lenders of Small Business banks in Developing and Emerging Economies for ShoreCap Exchange International. June – September 2005.

11. International Research Project for the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) in Washington DC, USA on "SMEs Access to the Capital Market: The Philippines Experience." May - October 2002.

12. Consultant. Small Business Finance Corporation - Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan. February - March 2001. The PDCenter was requested by SBFC to conduct an organizational study aimed at designing an institutional strengthening program for SBFC and thus re-establish itself as the premier development financial institution for SMEs in Pakistan.

13. Training & Organizational Development Consultancy Project. January 1999 to present. Mekong Project Development Facility (MPDF). The MPDF, is an IFC-managed initiative in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, which aims to support the establishment and growth of SMEs in these countries. They have a dual approach to achieve its objectives through direct-financing and institutional strengthening activities for its conduit-banks.

14. Case Study Materials and Development Project for MPDF. June 2001. The MPDF requested the PDCenter to prepare 2 case studies on Best Practices for SME Lending in Vietnam, using actual projects financed by the MPDF member-banks.

15. Promotion of Small Scale Enterprises for the Yemen Arab Republic and the Establishment of the Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU) at the Industrial Bank of Yemen.

16. Project Performance Audit Review of the Rural Industrialization Credit Programme (RICP) of the Punjab Small Industry Corporation in Punjab, Pakistan.

17. GTZ-Bondoc Development Program/Small Enterprise Development Component. The PDCenter prepared its institutional strategy for the development and promotion of SMEs in Bondoc Peninsula, Quezon Province.
